How to sharpen an edit or a GIF properly

yeahps:

With this tutorial I want to show how to sharpen an edit or a GIF the most accurate way. I know there are many different methods to sharpen, but this one is the best if you ask me.

So here’s what you have to do:

1. Colour your edit the way you want.

2. Select the layer you want to sharpen (and the corresponding animation frame if it’s a GIF)

3. Go to “Filter” > “Sharpen” > “Smart Sharpen” with the following settings:

Amount: 500

Radius: 0,3

Remove: Gaussian Blur

and set the tick to “More Accurate”

4. Click OK and you’re done.

Jigsaw gif tutorial

yeahps:

shellybuttface:

I was asked how I made this edit:

I suck at explaining, but hopefully you can understand this. If not feel free to ask me any questions.

I was asked how I made this edit:

I suck at explaining, but hopefully you can understand this. If not feel free to ask me any questions.

Make your edit, flatten and resize it to whatever size you want. I made mine 208x208 because I wanted it to fit in the middle of my 245x300 canvas.

Take this template and resize it to match your edit and then drag it on top of your picture.

Using the magic wand tool select the first piece of the puzzle

And the click on your image layer and press ctrl + J to make a copy of that selection. Keep going until the whole image is done. Your layers should look like this

Make your gif canvas, mine is 245 x 300. You can add a background texture or fill to make it look nice. Then drag your puzzle template onto it to use as your guide.

Now you want to drag your puzzle layers bottom up into the corner of your new canvas. Make a little pile of them.

Make a new frame in the animation bar and on frame two you want to drag the first piece into place

Add a motion tween between the two frames

So your animation bar should look like this

Make a new frame and drag piece two into place

Now tween frame 5 and 6 the same way you did with frame 1 and 2. So your animation bar will look like this

Repeat the process until all the pieces are in place, I ended up with 65 frames

Okay now select all your frames and delete the template layer. Set your last frame to 0.5 seconds and all frames before that to 0.2 seconds.

Then just save for web & devices and you should have something like this

Four for you, shattering! You go, shattering! : Tutorial #2

vanaheims:

This is, for all intents in purposes, the same tutorial as Tanja’s at sweettasteofbitter. The original tutorial is HERE. Please consult that one first, as it is the original. I want to make it clear that I am not claiming this style as my own, nor am I claiming I came up with it by myself. I learned it from sweettasteofbitter and trust me, she built the better chair.

The only reason for this tutorial was that it was requested by my friend Erin, who wanted the English translations in Photoshop.

Begin by making the basic graphic. Do what you will.

Once you’re happy with the subject, MERGE all the layers so the subject is only contained in one single layer.

This is what mine looks like so far:

-

Next, I’m going to create the brush I will use to shatter it.

You can choose to use any brush you please, and I encourage you to play around with the settings to find what you like best.

Create a new layer anywhere so you can test the brush on it.

Click on the brush tool, then the little brush holder icon. This opens a window, and I will use these settings:

Of course, the settings will change with the brush you choose, so toggle around with spacing and sizing until you like it.

Under Shape Dynamics, my settings are:

And under Scattering they are:

Smoothing doesn’t require any settings.

-

Go to Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal all. Now, um. Doodle on it. I really don’t have any better words to explain it, just go for it.

As you can see, I’ve concentrated it near the bottom of his coat. Do what you will.

-

Duplicate this layer into a new document and go to Edit > Define pattern. Name it whatever.

-

Go back to the original graphic and create a new layer above the subject. Use the brush to draw the flakes.

You’ll notice that this does NOT look pretty. The contrast between the flakes and the subject are too great and they just LOOK like they are two completely different layers - which, yes, they are, but in order to integrate them better, we’re going to change some things.

Right click on the layer > Blending Options and do this:

The pattern which you select will be the one that you created earlier with the duplicated document of the subject.

You’ll notice that the graphic looks much more put together and flows more smoothly.

That’s it! Now add whatever textures, filters, text, etc. that you would like.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Gif Tutorial

Justin Bieber - Baby {inspired by (x)}

IMAGE BY RRAUHLS

Tutorial on how to make this - {x}

I’m not really good at explaining and english isn’t my native language so please try to understand

  1. pick the parts of the video to gif then crop them them with size 136 x 127 px or any size depending upon the area [use this as base {x} and decide the size].
  2. here i chose some parts from naturally by selena gomez. {x} {x} {x} {x}
  3. then select all frames of 1st gif and copy them then paste them in the main gif.{x} *idk* then set the position {x} and time.
  4. then do the same for other 3 gifs.
  5. Then sort them into groups so it will be easy to make the gif.
  6. then select the last layer of 1st gif and the respective frame and duplicate it along with the frame then create a new group and put that duplicated frame inside that group and make that group invisible by selecting first frame and then clicking on the ‘eye’ next to group layer. {x}
  7. now tricky part please try to understand. Now select the duplicated frame and make the group and the duplicate layer visible on that frame and then go to filtre > blur > motion blur > angle 0 and distance 10. now you will have this {x}.
  8. then duplicate that frame and then select the duplicated frame then duplicate the duplicated layer and go to free transform and reduce the size {x} and move it forward like this {x}. then make the duplicated layer under the selected layer invisible and then select the previous frame and then make that duplicated layer 2 invisible from that frame {x}.
  9. keep on reducing the size while adding new frames and duplicating the reduced layers and moving it forward until you get something like this {x} as a gif {x} then again do the same procedure but this time move the layer forward like this {x} while reducing the size. then erase the part of the layer which is outside of the white base {x}. then do this procedure one more time without reducing the size {x} then duplicate that frame and then make the layer linked with that frame invisible {x}.
  10. then select the first layer and frame of the 2nd gif and duplicate the frame and the layer.then select first frame and make that duplicated layer invisible then select that duplicated frame again and rearrange the layers like this {x} and then make the original 1st layer visible {x} and make the duplicated layer visible on the previous frame {x}.Then go to filtre > blur > motion blur > angle 0 and distance 10. now you will have this {x}.Then create a new group and put that layer in that group then select the first frame and make the group invisible by clicking on the eye {x} after this go back to that frame and make the group visible.
  11. Now (here’s something you won’t understand) duplicate that frame and then select the previous frame and duplicate the corresponding layer {x} then select the previous frame of the duplicated frame and do as shown {x} then reduce the size by using free transform as mentioned above {x} then move it backwards like this keeping it in middle {x} then make this layer invisible {x}.then select the next layer and click on the eye of this layer {x}.
  12. if you’ve understand the above step then do it until you get this {x}, then again do the above step of reducing the size and moving and earsing it til u get this {x}.
  13. Read this all again so you will understand how to do the last two gifs and make sure the amount of frames is not too much and set the time between the frames according to your calculation etc.
  14. My results {x}

please like this post if this helped you ;’)

TUTORIAL BY PSCS5; How to make this transition effect for pictures

REQUESTED: perfectrauhl submitted: can you explain to me how to do the flashy thing when the between the pictures? like this: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6pdj2CWxp1qgdafho5_r1_250.gif

1. Once you have both of your images. Drag the b&w image onto the colored image. Make the b&w image invisible:

2. Make a new frame layer:

3. Make the b&w image visible and lower the opacity to 15-25% (You can change the opacity to your liking)

4. Now make another frame layer, and change your opacity to around 30-45%

5. Make another frame layer and change the opacity around 60-75%

6. Make another frame layer and make the b&w image visible by changing the opacity to 100%

7. Make another frame layer and change the b&w picture opacity to 60-75%

8. Make another frame layer and change the opacity to 30-45%

9. Make another frame layer and change the opacity to 15-25%

10. Now this is the timing:

11. Save it as a .gif and your done!
